Restored pianos and unique opportunities.

Notwithstanding all of the wonderful new pianos we sell, we take our greatest pride in the extensive restorations (click to view) we perform on instruments which are usually 50 to 120 years old. All of these pianos are selected by Robert Lowrey who also prepares their job descriptions.

The difference between our restored and reconditioned pianos is the extent of the work performed. Reconditioned pianos are newer, up to 50 years, and lend themselves to a variety of repair strategies, partial replacements and ordinary maintenance.

It takes 4-8 months to properly restore a piano, and for this reason, many sell on a "final approval" basis. If an instrument at any stage of the process is of interest, you can leave a fully refundable deposit which will give you, a right of first refusal on that piano. It is also often possible to determine the piano's final finish, or have it "customized" in other ways. You will never be under any obligation to take the piano, under any circumstances your deposit is always fully refundable.

If you decide you want to purchase any restored piano, your future enjoyment will depend intirely on the skills and intentions of the craftspeople in whom you will put your trust. Most of our craftspeople have been with us for fifteen to twenty-two years; we encourage you to visit our workshops where we believe you will soon achieve a clear understanding of the pride they take in their work.
